After my mandarin lessons I decided to go to the Forbidden City.. Yes maybe it’s a bit late haha !
But that’s kind of good to go there after 3 months because I was truely amazed by this huge imperial palace and garden, even if I have already done a lot of things in Beijing.
First, you have to be ready to wait for the security check haha ! They were really nice with me and did not check my bag or my thermos (they have checked the ones of the chinese people just before me).
Then, of course, you will see a lot of tourists and vendors, just go through the crowd and here you are !
The entrance was 40 rmb, because we are off-season (yeaah !).
Then, if you are off-season (and alone) be ready to find a lot of chinese people who will ask you (or not) to take a picture with them !
I truely think they are secretly exchanging pictures of foreigners hahhaa !
This place is reallyyy huge so do not forget to take a map with you, you can easily get lost !
The forbidden city is closing at 4:30 so try to be there early enough, and to bring food with you.
Then, if you have time you can go left and walk to Wudaokou ( maybe 10 minutes), go right and walk to Xidan (15 to 20 minutes maybe ?) or go straight to Qianmen.. These three places are must-seen places to do shopping.
But never forget, if you want to find cheaper things and better ones you always have to walk more. For example next to Pin’anli subway station there is a nice street with a lot of boutiques. Or if you continue to the south and to the right of Qianmen street you can find sone really nice hutongs 😉
